Born in Sevilla, Spain, Ana Díaz Asencio is a versatile saxophone player who embraces a colorful repertoire strongly influenced by her studies in Europe and the United States. While cornerstone works of the saxophone repertoire form a central part of her performances, she also actively collaborates with composers to develop and expand the instrument’s contemporary repertoire.
Making her debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of 25, Ana has soloed with the Manuel Castillo Symphony Orchestra, the Gerena Concert Band and the “Clara Sonus” Sax Ensemble. Among the awards she has received, Ms. Díaz Asencio won 1st prize in the Chamber Music Competition “José Gámez”, London International Competition and King’s Peak International Music Competition. Ana has received the Boston Woodwind Society Scholarship in 2023 and has been part of Tanglewood Music Center as guest musician in 2025.
She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree at the Sevilla Conservatory and Master’s Degree at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, receiving honors for her academic achievements. Ana is currently completing her Doctorate with the renowned saxophone player Ken Radnofsky at Boston University where she serves as the saxophone teaching assistant.
In addition to performing and teaching, Ana’s eagerness for artistic development has led her to explore other roles within the music world, including conductor, researcher, and music administrator.
